When a human denies his darkness, takes hold of his soul.
He projects his shadows onto others.
Starts judging and judging in people what he won't accept like in himself.
Starts judging and judging in people what he won't accept like in himself.
He creates enemies out of all the parts that he rejected.
Jung believes what you deny yourself, you are forced to live out unconsciously for the rest of your life.
Jung believes what you deny yourself, you are forced to live out unconsciously for the rest of your life.
So your anger, the anger you deny it become passive aggressiveness, the greed you hide behind becomes secret resentment, the cruelty that you deny that becomes self-righteous judgment about others.
And the more you pretend to be this evolved person beyond your nature, the more the darkness it grabs hold of you from places that you can't even see.
Become a puppet
to all that you rejected.
"Denial of darkness does not make you a good person.
It makes you a blind one.
When you pretend that you have no capacity for anger, greed, or cruelty, you do not destroy those parts of yourself.
When you pretend that you have no capacity for anger, greed, or cruelty, you do not destroy those parts of yourself.
You simply push them into your shadow.
And from the shadow, they run your life.
You become a puppet to the very things you deny, projecting them onto everyone around you.
You become a puppet to the very things you deny, projecting them onto everyone around you.
You will look at your neighbor and see malice, not realizing you are looking at your own reflection.
True goodness is not the absence of darkness.
True goodness is not the absence of darkness.
It is the conscious mastery over it.
It is knowing exactly how monstrous you can be, and choosing to be kind anyway."
